Tension between NASA and Commercial Space Companies

Very fair and a must read from Popular Mechanics. I’ve used the FAA analogy to the role that NASA should play in the past. Take it from me from my DoD satellite testing days, government oversight provides mostly friction to development. Friction = cost overruns and schedule slips.

To NASA’s credit, they’re trying to adapt. They’ll have to, or be left behind. Once there are commercial stations in orbit, NASA oversight may be flat-out ignored if it becomes too onerous.
