An examination of the Star of Bethlehem

Source here: Hobbyspace.com

The thing that makes me think it wasn’t an astronomical event at all is this passage from Matthew 2:7-10:

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

If the star of Bethlehem was an astronomical event, why is it that Herod had no idea of it? And how could it have stopped over a single house?

This is just one of the many things I’m going to ask God when I get to Heaven. In the meantime, my guess is that this was something spiritual created by God for the wise men (astrologers from Babylon) to see. Maybe no one else could even see it?
