Nitrogen detected on 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

Comet probe detects ‘most wanted molecule’: Nitrogen gas. This discovery adds to the thesis that comets like 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko did not play a significant part in the formation of Earth.

The biggest news from the article, though, is that the Rosetta team calls 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko “Chury”, which works for me. I’ll still tag it by its official name, but hereafter on this blog the comet that Rosetta is orbiting will be called “Chury”.

Edited to add:
Hey, if comets are a reliable source of nitrogen, then MIT’s Oxygen factory becomes a bit more feasible.
