SpaceX pad abort test successfully conducted

Woot-woot!!!! Definitely a wild ride for astronauts onboard, but any landing they could walk away from would be a good landing, and so this would qualify as a VERY good landing.

And as the commentator in the video points out, it’s not like the Dragon’s abort system is an add-on that is jettisoned as soon as the rocket clears the pad. Dragon’s abort system is integrated within the capsule itself, so it would be available to the crew any time a catastrophe occurred.

BZ, SpaceX!!

Parenthetically, I’m glad I didn’t live-blog this. The entire flight only lasted a couple of minutes — and was delayed two hours into the launch window. The extra sleep I got was definitely worth not live-blogging this event.
